HD Presentation at the APSE 2021

HD Reveal: Skid Pump

A big Thank You to the organizers and sponsors of the APSE 2021 for giving me the opportunity to present and show an awesome new project.

This project is based on the most popular suggestion for making another AddOn for the SZYM Paladin Pickup Truck.
Please keep in mind that this is still a work in progress. So not everything is final yet.
It will fit perfectly in the bed of the SZYM Paladin. But you can also use it for any other modify enabled vehicle.

It has Pump Controls with a throttle lever to control total throughput of the 500 GPM pump.
Three sizes are available to fit the small / medium / large pickup beds of the SZYM Paladin with a 140 / 200 / 280 gallon water tank.
There are individual open/close valves for the intake, discharge, booster line, tank to pump and tank fill connections.

On top it has a small Hosebed with a small Supply Line and Attack Line. The Attack Line is available as both Smoothbore and Combi Nozzle version.
Next to the Hosebed is a Water Refill Tower that is compatible with the HD Refill Pipes to directly fill the Water Tank.
The pump will take damage if run for too long without water flowing through the impeller.

Access settings are available as 'Owner' / 'Anyone' / 'Group' / 'Paladin'.
The 'Paladin' setting will go through the Paladin API and respective vehicle access setting.

The Land Impact will be 6 or 7, depending on final changes and beta testing.
Permissions are set to Copy and Modify.

Almost all of the 3D model work, texturing and scripting is already complete.
Beta Testing will start on Tuesday, 21-Dec-2021. Beta testing has been slightly delayed to resolve known issues.
The Beta Version was released on 23-Dec-2021.
All testing will be undertaken by the HD Internal Testers Group.
The public release is set for January 2022 February 2022.

Questions & Answers

1st Topic: Modify Support

Will there be modify enabled trucks from HD?
Yes.

When will those be available?
After Version 1.0 of the Legacy Pumper is complete.

Why wait until Version 1.0?
It will be a lot more beneficial if all of the scripts actually fully support it.
And it’s easier for me to adjust the scripts to fully support modify if all features are complete.

2nd Topic: Legacy Series

When will the Legacy Pumper Version 1.0 be released (end of Early Access phase)?
Within 2022.

When will the Legacy Midmount be released?
3rd in line after the Legacy Pumper and Legacy Tanker.

Can you provide more info for the timeline for the Legacy Series?
I am 100% committed to getting the Legacy Pumper to version 1.0 as soon as possible.
It has been in Early Access for far too long by now. That is why the Tanker and Midmount won't be available as Early Access.
In my opinion this is an experiment that has not worked out too well. I rather be able to fully deliver right away for the next releases.
The Tanker and Midmount development will be faster as all the groundwork has been established by then.

What will the 4th vehicle in the Legacy Series be?
This has not been determined yet.
I will be able to narrow it down once the work on the current vehicles is close to complete.
If you have ideas you can submit them here.
The 4th vehicle will be based on the most popular suggestion.

3rd Topic: Skid Unit

Is the Skid Pump limited to the SZYM Paladin?
No, the scripts are optimized for the Paladin but will also work with any other modify enabled vehicle.

Will the Skid Pump come with some of the HD Equipment?
It will most likely have a copy of the Hydrant Bag on it.

Will the Skid Unit support drafting operations via Suction Hose?
I am not sure about drafting yet as currently we only have the large Suction Hose and that won't fit on the small intake.
There are also internal Hose System changes required to make a small Suction Hose work.

Will the Skid Unit support Pump and Roll?
It is on the ideas list for possible features.
The Booster Line could use the particle system.
But you would not be able to maintain any of the other hose connections as they can not follow the vehicle.
And without an established water supply the water tank would run empty pretty fast.
If there is enough interest then I'd work on adding it.

Are there plans for a bumper mounted monitor for the Skid Pump?
That's a good idea.
I'll add it to the suggestions list.

Are there plans to make a flatbed version of the Skid Pump?
The regular Skid Pump should fit on a Flat Bed.
If there is enough interest then I'd work on a bigger Flatbed version.

Will it be possible to link two or more copies of the Skid Pump to the same vehicle?
That's a good idea. I will add it to the testing list.
I think currently it would not go well.
I'll also make a note to check about adding compatibility for that if possible.

Does the Skid Unit come with foam?
No, not currently.
If there is enough interest then I'll add it to the ideas list.
The main idea for this was to keep it simple and be able to finish the whole project in time for the APSE.
I got pretty close to that.
Maybe even something with chemical powder would be possible.
If you got further ideas make sure to send them in here.

Will there be GFS support for the Skid Unit?
It's on the maybe list.
I did not have enough time to experiment with getting it to work to have two different GFS fillers on a single vehicle.
If someone has experience with this please let me know.

Are there plans for bigger tanks for the Skid Unit?
If you got specific versions you'd like to see please let me know.
If there is enough interest I might be able to add them.

Will the Skid Unit work without being linked to a vehicle?
Yes.

4th Topic: Paladin AddOns

Will there be further SZYM Paladin Add-Ons?
If the Skid Unit is a success then yes.

Are there plans to make the Panther Type 3 Ambulance Box a Paladin Addon?
Not curently.

Are there plans for further Lightbars as Paladin AddOn?
Possibly, if there is enough interest.
I think there is already a pretty good selection available from other creators and the most common types are covered.
If there is something from the HD Fleet that you'd like to be made available as standalone modify version for the Paladin then please let me know here.

5th Topic: Miscellaneous

When will the Hydrant Chief Edition be released?
I am aiming for a December 2021 January 2022 release.
The next beta test version has been delayed due to the additional work on the HD Skid Unit.
It still needs to go through one more round of beta testing to confirm the latest changes work right.

Are there plans for making a modular development kit for the HD Fire System for 3rd party creators?
That would be pretty complicated to develop and maintain.
The HD Fire System is pretty specific with the commands and if you send wrong information you're actually able to fully break / brick the pumps.
There is something in that direction that I have been thinking about for a long time.
I hope to be able to give some more information about it at the next HD Reveal.
For the meantime I got some plans to open up some of the existing systems but nothing in a state that I'll be able to discuss today.

Any updates on Marine 2?
It's still on hold.
A lot of the Marine 2 improvements made it into Marine 1 with the October Update.
I think overall the vast majority of you are still a lot more interested in getting the Legacy Series released rather than spending more time on Marine 2.
