3) Access

The Marine 1 allows you to setup different access levels to limit who is able to use your boat.
The Access Menu is available on the Captain's screen.

There are three different access settings available: Crew, Passenger and Whitelist.
The Crew setting controls who is allowed to sit in one of the seats to actively control an aspect of the boat.
The Passenger setting allows an individual to ride along on your boat without giving him access to the controls of the boat.
The Whitelist can contain up to 50 avatar names. Those users are cleared as both Crew and Passenger sit positions.

For Crew and Passenger you can set three different access levels:
Owner - only the owner of the boat
Group - only avatars whose active group matches that of the boat
Anyone - any user of Second Life

The Whitelist has three options:
Add
This will allow you to add new names to the whitelist.
You can enter more than one name at a time by separating them with commas.
You may enter Usernames (firstname.lastname) or Legacy Names (Firstname Lastname).
If you are adding a newer account which doesn't have a last name you may leave out the 'Resident' part.
It will work with or without the 'Resident' portion of the username. The entered name is NOT case sensitive.
Show
This will print a list of all whitelist entries in local chat.
Remove
This will allow you to remove a name from the whitelist.
The same details apply as for adding a name.

Driving
Lets you switch between Realistic and Arcade driving mode.
Realistic features a more complete simulation of maritime vessels with slower acceleration and braking.
Steering
Lets you switch between Realistic and Arcade steering mode.
Realistic features a wider turn radius.
Wind Drift
If wind drift is enabled then the boat will be pushed across the water surface by wind at lower speeds.
Auto Center
If auto center is enabled then the steering wheel returns to its center position as soon as you let go of the Left / Right Arrow keys.
This also limits the maximum rudder angle. If auto center is disabled then you can freely rotate the steering wheel.
When off then there are two assists to make centering the wheel easier:
You may click on the steering wheel to center it.
When turning the steering wheel back it will not overshoot its center position.
You will have to let go of the Arrow Key and press it again to steer in the opposite direction.

7.3 Options Page 3/3

Crashable
This enables damage for the hull of the boat. There is no visible damage on the model, but it will sink the boat when it reaches 100%.
Collisions at a speed lower than 3 knots do not cause damage.
Any collisions with objects that are called 'Bumper' or 'Fender' will be ignored.
The filter is not case sensitive. This allows you to build absorbing harbor structures that will not damage the boat.
You have to use the Welder to repair the destroyed boat.
Fuel System
This enables the internal Fuel System. Other than the HD Fire Trucks it is not compatible with the NTBI Global Fuel System.
Instead it uses the supplied dock to refuel the diesel tanks.
Temp Attach
This enables the usage of the temporary attachment feature for various pieces of equipment.
When on a copy of the equipment will not be send to your inventory.
Instead it directly attaches to your avatar once you have accepted the permissions dialog.
This allows for a better roleplay experience, but requires that the boat has rez rights for the current parcel.

8) Docking

The Marine 1 comes with a compatible dock, which consists of two mooring bollards.
Keeping the dock simple allows fitting it into a wide range of existing harbor setups.
The dock is used to restock any of the equipment and supplies of the boat.
You do not need any other equipment like the HD SCBA Vendor or HD Foam Vendor.
The dock only allows docking from one side. Please pay attention to the direction the mooring points are facing.

8.1 Docking Procedure

Move the boat into a parallel position next to the docks.
For a successful docking please make sure:
- the speed of the boat is low
- the boat is on the correct side of the dock
- that the bollards are next to the bow and stern of the boat.
- the center of the boat lines up with the center point between the two bollards
- the boat is not too far away from the dock
- the dock is currently free
Click on one of the mooring points on the deck of the boat.
Or alternatively click on either of the mooring points on one the Docking Bollards.
The following message will display in local chat:
"Attempting to dock the boat.."
The docking attempt will take a few seconds.
If no further message is displayed then you are too far away from the dock.
One of the following failure messages may be displayed in local chat:
"Can't dock: wrong side."
Either move to the other side of the bollards or rotate the dock by 180 degree.
"Can't dock: wrong angle."
The boat is not parallel enough to the dock.
Try to line up the length of the boat with an imagined line between the two bollards.
If the docking process was completed then the following message will be displayed:
"The boat has been docked."
The boat will attempt to rez a boarding plank for easy access to the boat.
As soon as the boat is docked it will be resupplied.
A hovertext between the two bollards will indicate the progress.
Please note that the supplies on the boat will only be updated once the boat has been undocked.

To undock the boat you can click on any of the mooring points to release the ropes.

8.2 Boarding Plank

The boarding plank is managed automatically by the docking process.
The boat will check if a solid or phantom, non-physical structure is present between the mooring bollards.
The height difference from the deck to the structure can be plus/minus 1 meter.
It has to be within 3 meters of the edge of the deck.
The plank will disappear upon un-docking the boat.

9) Equipment

The Marine 1 comes with a selection of equipment.

Fire Extinguisher
The Fire Extinguisher is stored in the cabinet that has the red extinguisher symbol on the left side of the interior.
It will directly attach or offer a copy for your inventory depending on whether temp attach is enabled or not.
When wearing the extinguisher you can switch into mouselook and hold down your left mouse button to spray it.
If you used up all of the contained foam then you can refill it at one of the HD NextGen Fire Trucks.
The Fire Boat does not offer Fire Extinguisher refills, but it has an unlimited amount of Extinguishers available.

10 SCBA Bottles
The SCBA bottles are stored in the cabinet that is marked with 'SCBA' on the right side of the interior.
Simply wear your HD NextGen SCBA and click on the SCBA symbol.
You will use one of the bottles if your SCBA is less than 50% full.
You can see the amount of bottles available by using the report option.
You can restock the SCBA bottles the boat carries by docking the boat.

Life Buoy
A life buoy is stored on either side of the aft deck structure.
You can click on the Life Buoy to obtain a copy.
It will directly attach or offer a copy for your inventory depending on whether temp attach is enabled or not.
Switch into mouselook, take aim and press the left mouse button when you want to throw it.
It will float on the water surface and allows one avatar to hold onto it.
While holding on to it you can use the arrow keys to slowly move over the water surface.
You may use the Boat Hook to collect a deployed Life Buoy.

Life Raft
The Life Rafts are stored in the round, white containers on the rear of the deck.
Before you launch them make sure that the path towards the railing is cleared.
Click on the Life Raft Container in order to throw it over the railing.
If the container does not get launched then you either don't have access or the parcel does not allow rez.
Make sure that the boat has rez enabled if you have previously encountered a no-rez parcel.
To do so you have to click on the 'Rez Off' text on either the Aerial or Nozzle tab of the HUD.
The container will be shot over board and will float on the water surface.
Click on the swimming container in order to pull the painter line.
You will see a message in local chat:
HD Life Raft: You yank on the painter line of the life raft to inflate it.
The top half will be shot off and the Life Raft gets inflated.
Once it is fully inflated up to 6 avatars can sit on it.
It will drift on the water according to the SL wind.
You can restock the Life Raft Containers by docking the boat.

Life Vest
The life vest can be obtained by clicking on the cabinet with the life vest symbol on the left side of the interior.
It will directly attach or offer a copy for your inventory depending on whether temp attach is enabled or not.
You can click on it to inflate it. The life vest will keep you afloat on the water surface while still allowing you to move.
The boat carries an unlimited amount of life vests.

Welder
The Welder can be obtained by clicking on the un-labeled equipment cabinet in the rear of the interior.
It will directly attach or offer a copy for your inventory depending on whether temp attach is enabled or not.
Once worn you have to switch to mouselook and click & hold your left mouse button to use.
The Welder will repair any boat within a 20 meter radius.
When the boat is damage it will repair it at a rate of 2.5% / second.
If the boat got destroyed you have to first fix the outer hull.
This is done at a rate of 5.0% / second. Once the hull is repaired the boat will float again.
You can then proceed to repair the remaining damage.

Boat Hook
The Boat Hook is stored on the lifted aft deck, next to the aerial boom, on the left side of the boat.
It will directly attach or offer a copy for your inventory depending on whether temp attach is enabled or not.
If you use the temp attach option then it will disappear from the deck.
Once you detach it from your avatar it will reappear on the boat. This requires that you are in the same region as the boat.
If someone takes off with your boat hook then you can restore it by docking the boat.
The report menu will give you information on the last person who took it.
You can switch into mouselook to use the boat hook while it is attached.
Aim the center of your screen on a physical life buoy in the water and click your left mouse button to pick it up.
Any compatible boat within 20 meters of the life buoy and an empty storage spot will pick it up.
Whichever boat responds first will pick up the life buoy.

Attack Line / Supply Line
The Attack Line and Supply Line can be obtained by clicking on the un-labeled equipment cabinet in the rear of the interior.
It will always offer a copy for your inventory independent from the temp attach setting.
For details on its usage please refer to the HD Fire System Manual.

Boarding Plank
The boarding plank is managed automatically by the docking process.
The boat will check if a solid or phantom, non-physical structure is present between the mooring bollards.
The height difference from the deck to the structure can be plus/minus 1 meter.
It has to be within 3 meters of the edge of the deck.
The plank will disappear upon un-docking the boat.
